Waldorf Education: Theory and Practice
Richard Blunt
1995
Since the first Waldorf school was founded by Rudolph Steiner some 80
years ago, more and more people have understood the need for changes in
the way we think about education. In over 2000 Waldorf schools and associated
educational institutions in 45 countries, people have found an education
that respects and values the human being as a whole.
They have realised that a purely intellectual approach in teaching contradicts
the nature of learning: both children and adults learn (understand and
remember) best when they can be active, when their soul is nourished,
and when the content is presented and practised in an artistic way.
Dr Richard Blunt explored Waldorf Education for his M.Ed degree at Rhodes
University, Grahamstown - this book arose out of his research material.
