This week, St. Francis Home, one of the recipients of our OVC (Orphan and Vulnerable Children's Programme) will be bidding farewell to three of the young men who have been living in the children’s home for more than 10 years.
The youth have been part of the OVC activities over the last year and although they will be missed we gladly send them on the next phase of their journey in the knowledge that they are strong individuals with great leadership potential. Here at Novalis, we would like to wish the three of them well as they eagerly embrace the new adventure awaiting them back in their communities.
As these three young men leave, they leave behind 6 Food gardens which, thanks to the Novalis Ubuntu Institute's Programme have been established. These 6 gardens providing the home with a variety of vegetables. The recent harvest provided the ingredients for a “Potjiekos” evening for the management and staff at St Francis. This enjoyable activity coincided with the departure of the three boys and the end of the term.
